FRANCO BASSI COLLECTION AUTUMN WINTER 2010
A complete offer of ties, handkerchiefs, cufflinks but most of all scarves. All dedicated to the modern man, who divides his work and freetime wordrobe in a relaxed but considered way.
To begin with, the news of the season is the general relaxation of formal classic taste. This manifests itself in scarves that are lighter and softer and in cloths such as lightweight cashmere, silk and wool mixes. As well as the must-have basic colours: navy, brown, beige and grey; there is a new optimism that sees brighter colours being worn by men. No longer is floral exclusive to women. In line with the more relaxed mood, special treatments such as over dying and tie-dying are important, perhaps combined with special washes and treatments.
For those who value style above fashion, Franco Bassi offer the most luxurious hand woven cashmeres, both plain and checked.
Perhaps the most noteworthy piece in the collection is the cashmere Shibori stole which is a hand woven, tie dye piece, made in Italy but using ancient Japanese techniques. The stole is woven, rolled and bound and then immersed in colour. The colour is taken up by the cloth everywhere apart from the bound areas, thus giving rise to each and every scarf being uniquely coloured. What can be more luxurious than a one-off, uncopyable garment?
The Japan Capsule Tie Collection continues to offer designs unseen outside their native Islands, and forewhich Franco Bassi has justifiably built a name from. It is often overlooked how the marvelous the Japanese Kimono tradition of design is.
New – for Spring Summer are the Franco Bassi printed polo and shirt collection, premiered at Pitti Uomo in Florence. The idea is to draw inspiration from the vast world of neckwear printing and apply it to a new garment. Completing the range are a new range of socks that combine the sober colours of the boardroom with the week end relax idea. How? Have a look at them, and all will be revealed!
Franco Bassi - the Most beautiful.
